"Beautiful Parakeets" (Psephotus pulcherrimus) by John Gould, measuring 12" tall by 10" wide, presents a timeless lithographic art piece from the 1940s, holding manufacturer's number GP13365. This original offset lithograph is a highlight within the Gould tropical bird print collection offered by Pink Flamingos, which also features "New Hebrides Parakeets," "Earl of Derby Parakeet," "South American Macaw," "Pennant's Parakeets," and "Yellow Rump Parakeets." Each print from this collection is meticulously crafted to a 10" by 12" dimension and printed on heavy paper by Goes Lithographing during the period of 1940-1960.

John Gould, the illustrious artist behind this work, was born on September 14, 1804, in Lyme Regis, Dorset, England. His early fascination with birds shaped a career that merged taxidermy, natural history dealing, and artistic depiction of birds. His union with Elizabeth Coxen in 1829, who was equally passionate and skilled in the arts, fostered an extraordinary collaboration. Their combined talents in observation and illustration resulted in numerous ornithological volumes that remain celebrated for their scientific importance and artistic beauty.

Owning the "Beautiful Parakeets" lithograph is more than an artistic acquisition; it is an embrace of historical and natural elegance. Ideal for collectors and admirers of fine art and ornithology, this piece not only enhances decor but also serves as a homage to the Goulds' dedication to the natural sciences.
